Heston Community Choir was born out of a gospel singing workshop which took place in 2017. The people who attended enjoyed it so much that they asked Mother Sandra if it were possible to have a regular gospel signing group at St. Leonard’s.
A chance meeting between Pastor Lloyd Crossfield and Mother Sandra at a clergy summit led to the formation of Heston Community Gospel Choir which was originally led by Pastor Lloyd and then his daughter Nicole, our Choir Director.

Nicole Matthew – Choir Director

Born to Pastors Lloyd and Verona Crossfield, Nicole is the second of four children. She was raised in a very musical home where music was part of the foundation of the family. At the age of 2, Nicole started singing at home and at her Church; she has been singing ever since. Nicole sings in a group with her family, the group’s name is Psalm UK, and she has been doing so for almost 20 years. She was also a part of the founding Gospel Choir at Twyford CofE High School and was a member when they won the Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year Competition 2009 (her father was the director).
Nicole writes her own songs and plays a few musical instruments; this is her passion and she believes that it has helped her to develop as a singer/ choir director, as well as learning under the leadership of her parents, who both write songs, play instruments and direct choirs themselves. Nicole is married to Sean Matthew since 2014 and they have been blessed with one beautiful son, Tobias and a child on the way. She also serves in her church in the Sunday school, youth department, music department and anywhere else she feels she can help out.
